Gene, Mai and Fred Wilson as the holy family during Christmas services on Christmas Eve at the EUM. Church in Oblong, Illinois.

Our family enjoyed the opportunity to portray the holy family. The privilege traditionally goes to the family with the youngest child and this year Fred was the youngest.

An Afternoon at The Country Bumpkin

We spend an afternoon at the country Bumpkin with Bill, Cheryl and Will Cox as they accompanied the Oblong Illinois Cub Scout Pack on an outing for Halloween. A good time was had by all. Thanks for inviting us Bill, Cheryl and Will!

Homer William Wilson’s 90th Birthday

There was a family get together for Dad’s 90th birthday party on September 28, 2008 at his home in rural Robinson, Illinois. Many family members were there for the celebration and our thoughts were with those who were unable to attend.

Dad seemed to enjoy his birthday and we certainly enjoyed being with him as he celebrated 90 years of life.

After Mai literally staggered off of the roller coaster, she proclaimed,”I will never do that again!”

I think she had a nice time at Holiday World with everyone but the roller coaster was a little too much too soon. She tells me and everyone else she will never ride one again thus having two rides in one, her first one and her last one.

I suspect later she may relent and try another one. What do you think?

Randy Gibler Gives Mai and Dave Wilson A ride in his Steiger Tractor as he applies fertilizer to a field where he will latter plant corn. This field is located North and East of Oblong Illinois.

The Video is a little noisy as the wind was blowing hard on the day the footage was taken. I hope you enjoy the video. Please leave comments telling us what you think about this video.

Mai Has a Driving Lesson

Mai has been wanting to learn how to drive and today we had the opportunity to go to a low traffic area and let her drive.

Mai was both excited and apprehensive as she walked around our car to take the wheel.

She sat in the drivers seat of the car for the first time and carefully adjusted the seat and looked in the mirrors before pulling back on the road.

Mai drove more than seven miles and was a very good student. She drove safely and was a quick learner. It was a pleasure for me to be the teacher today, in part because I know how much she has wanted to learn to drive and mostly because I enjoy teaching people who are motivated to learn. The biggest reason I enjoyed the driving lesson is that I love her and we are happy doing things together.

It was a wonderful day when we celebrated Cody Wilson’s birthday. We all enjoyed being together and we all love Cody! I hope you have many more happy birthdays and I hope I am able to share in the birthday celebrations with you and the rest of our family.

Dave Wilson is three years old!

Dave Wilson celebrates his third birthday on March 31, 2008 at the family home in Davao City Republic of the Philippines.

It was both a birthday celebration and a farewell visit from family members as Gene, Mai and Dave Wilson prepare to move to the United States from Davao City where they have lived since Dave’s birth on March 31, 2005.

It was nice to have an opportunity to share this birthday celebration and farewell party with our family.
