A smiling happy girl cuts the stalk of a banana plant to make feed for the animals. She uses a bolo and then uses a mortar and pestal to mash the plant material into pulp to feed to the pigs and other animals.

I had no idea that the stalk of the banana tree was used to feed animals! Now, I am curious about that. Is the mashed up stalk mixed with other ingredients to produce the feed, or is it given alone?
It is not suitable for feeding by itself. It is mixed with corn and rice bran which is a by product of milling the rice and making grits from the corn. The gabi plant stalk, known as taro in english can be used with the banana. The gabi plant must be cooked before mixing.
The feed is then used for pigs. I am unaware of it being used as feed for other animals.
